What to Take On a Cruise Vacation by John Bakers

When you are getting ready to go on a cruise you may find yourself overwhelmed, not knowing what to pack and what to leave behind. It's a delicate balance of making sure you have all the things you are going to use, but not lugging along a lot of things you don't need.

When many people prepare to go on their first vacation cruise, they have a lot of questions about what they should not forget and what they can be comfortable leaving behind. They don't know what items are going to be easy to get a hold of onboard and what they won't have access to.

So when you are sorting out what to pack for your cruise vacation holiday, here's a little list of things to keep in mind:

Necessities

If nothing else, here is a list of things you MUST remember to pack and have on hand when you take off on your cruise vacation:

Passport - For the majority of cruises, you will go to at least a few countries, and therefore you must have a passport and/or state identification card or drivers license to be able to move from country to country.

Car Insurance - If you are planning on renting a car at any of your holiday destinations, you must have proof of automobile insurance to make the process go more easily.

Clock - Since your travels will likely take you from one time zone to another, you will want to have a watch so you can keep track of what time it is. This is even better if you have a multiple time-zone watch.

The Right Clothes - Think ahead to all the kinds of activities you are going to be involved in. If there are formal events planned, make sure you have some of your best outfits so can give off the look you want. Meanwhile, make sure to also have the clothes you need for all the fun things you are planning to do, such as spending time at the pool or going hiking.

Other Things To Consider

Camera - If you want to be able to get a lot of pictures of your fun event, make sure to pack a regular camera with lots of film or a digital camera with extra memory cards. Camcorder - For even more fun memories, you may want to capture some moments on video.

Recreation Items - If you want to read a book at the poolside, bring a good read along, and if you need them, don't forget your reading glasses.

First-aid-items - If you are planning to do hiking or other risky activities you should prepare for whatever may go wrong.

Flash Light - Just in case of an emergency. As you are packing, remember this is just a few days. You do not need everything in your home to be with you. When you first select the items to pack, look at them a few times and decide if they are items you really need.

The Perfect 3 day cruise

Aching to go on a vacation but pressed for time? Rather than take a week-long holiday, why not try a 3 day cruise? It's affordable and the experience is as great as a long vacation on a cruise ship.

Think about these pluses when you take a short cruise trip.

Delectable cuisine, romantic movie nights,world-class entertainment, massage
and spas, outdoor and indoor activities, wall climbing, snorkeling, parties, musicals, variety shows and seaside excursions. Expect superb customer service and experience first class pampering from the cruise staff.

For first-time cruise travelers, you may want to start with a 3 day cruise from Los Angeles, Miami, Fort Lauderdale or San Diego. Short trips such as a 3 day cruise will help you decide whether to go for the longer cruises next time.

You may also check out 2 or 3 night cruises. These are popularly known as "repositioning cruises".

These are major cruise liners coming from South America to North America. For
example, from San Francisco you can take the cruise ship going to Alaska. These huge cruise ships make a brief stop in the ports of
Los Angeles, San Francisco including Seattle before heading to Vancouver then off to Alaska.

Whatever you call these short cruise trips, it's the great rates that make it a top choice. Now, you don't have to spend a fortune for a cruise trip.

In 2007, more cruise liners are offering cruises from San Francico to Alaska during the summer months and San Francisco to Mexico during the cooler season. A lot of passengers have taken this route lately. Also, we were able to travel to Vancouver via coastal cruises in the past. It's a lovely place to visit.

The sheer excitement of cruising off into the sunset is an experience that you will never forget.

How To Find The Best Cruise Reviews & Cruise Deals by Meryl Rougeax

Discovering Quality Cruise Reviews and Cruise Deals

Reviews are very helpful when it comes to choosing the shipping line you will be dealing with for your next dream holiday. You'll get valuable comments and suggestions from reviewing the best cruise deals. Most of the information you get from reviews are not available in brochures and company websites. But, you will know what it's like to actually be on that special cruise you're eyeing.

There is no better way to research about a cruise trip than by hearing it from someone who has already tried it. Thus, if you are a traveler seeking to get the best deal out of your vacation, treat those cruise reviews and cruise deals as a reliable source of information.

The best place to look for them is the internet. You can get them from every cruise ship website. However, you have to be careful since most of these assessments are sanitized. You cannot expect to see a bad review of a ship company in their own website. But despite this fact, reviews found on the company's website can still be very helpful. You can still find valuable information from them such as the different activities and amenities offered in the trip, presented in a conversational manner.

If you want to read more personal experiences, you can look for entries in blogs of individuals. All you have to do is to type in the name of the company in any search engine. You may find some write-ups about them. This will help you get honest and spontaneous feedbacks about the trip.

However, do not instantly believe everything you read in personal sites. There may be individuals who write negative remarks for the sake of destroying the reputation of ship companies. Be discriminating and take everything with a grain of salt. You might want to compare and contrast several comments. If a certain comment keeps popping up, that means there is a high possibility of it being true.

You can also get reviews the old-fashioned but more reliable way. That is to say, you can simply ask friends and relatives who have gone on cruises in the past. You can ask them for referrals and recommendations. This will be very beneficial to your planning and preparation. Make sure that you take in all the comments and carefully evaluate them so you will be able to pick the cruise deal that best suits your preferences for your next fantastic vacation holiday.

Traveling light on a cruise

On a cruise, you would meet new people and new people means, new impressions. How could be impression be formed? There are factors and though it is shallow to think of, the way a person dresses up affects how people around look at him or her. A well-dressed person is often regarded of as a confident person. But, others are so timid to look at.

How could one still be fashionable without having to carry the whole closet? You are on your way away from home; packing is the next thing to consider. As you travel, you must bear in mind that you have to travel light, bring what is only important and what are your must-haves. It will be a big hassle on your part if you carry with you an extremely heavy bag, Instead of giving you the break of your life, it will surely break your shoulders apart.

Packing the things you need is so important. How to do it?

Casual, formal and informal are things or clothes one must consider bringing as present from them In daylight, shorts tees, Capri pants, sneakers, slippers and simple tees are fine for me. These are sources of comfort and they are much suited for the ordinary days. Your bikinis, sunscreen lotion, flip flops, sunglasses, and your necessities for the beach.

For the night time something a little formal will do the trick, try on something strap for women and for men, trousers and blazer may do. Dressing up does not mean that you have to be very fancy, all you need to have is presentable clothes, easy to carry and the most important thing is it is being worn with confidence.

Being on a cruise does not mean you have to forget how you look especially if you are out for the singles cruise. There you have to be attractive in some ways because you are there in search for someone. Traveling light while not having to look messy will surely make your cruise unforgettable.

Always take care of your belongings when you set out for a cruise, traveling light will help you do this much easier. Moreover, having so many loads to carry along your trip will not help you achieved your purpose of relaxation. It would even resort to stress or anxiety- so beware!

It will be hassle- free, stress-free and it may be a wonderful start of something you have been wishing for, with someone you have been waiting for.

Cruise Holidays - Myths Exposed by Greg Hansward

People who've never taken a cruise usually have many reasons why they think cruise holidays aren't for them. If you've been talking yourself out of booking a cruise then you should know the truth about some common misconceptions. Hopefully, it will change your mind and you'll take a cruise since it is truly a relaxing and fun vacation.

Cruises are no longer dominated by the elderly and late-middle aged vacationers. Family vacations on cruises are becoming increasingly popular and many of the facilities and activities target younger age groups. There is also an increase in teenagers and 20 something's either traveling with family or without. True, a large amount of passengers will be over 50 since they have the time and funds but it's not as prevalent as it once was.

Some people have heard that everything is on a schedule; meals, activities, etc. So you might think that you're on a floating tour bus but that is not so especially on the large ocean liners. Some meals are served at certain times but most ships have a 24 hour buffet that has a wide variety of food and the dining experience is more casual than it once was so no need to pack a suit or evening gown. Shows and theatre performances are of course on a schedule but there are so many different kinds of activities. There is always something happening so there's no need to stick to a schedule.

Along the same mindset, you might be thinking that there's not enough to keep you busy. That is simply not true since there is so much to do, it would be hard to do everything you want to. There is something for everyone. If you're the sportive type there are bowling alleys, gyms, rock climbing, and some ships even have a driving range so you can work on your golf swing. If you're looking for entertainment then there are plenty of options including movie theatres, cabaret style shows and comedy clubs. Children will be kept busy with activities geared towards their age group and there's always the pool and arcade. Add to all of these activities, the exciting ports of call and you'll never be bored.

Some liken a cruise with being "stuck" on a ship with a bunch of other tourists. True, everyone on the ship is a tourist but that's not necessarily bad. Since everyone is on vacation most are in a relaxed and high spirited mindset. The crew and passengers tend to be friendly and easy going so being "stuck" with other holiday makers is actually a good thing.

Now that some of those misconceptions have been proven wrong there's nothing stopping you from booking your dream holiday at sea!

How to Get Rid of Cruise Misconceptions as You Travel?

For the rest of the world, cruising is a great experience no amount of money could afford to alter. On the other hand, there are still people who think that it sucks to go on a cruise and it is not fun travel at all. What are the reasons why some people manage not to like cruising when in fact it is stereotyped as “adventurous way to travel”?

One of the most common reasons is that he thinks that a cruise could be very boring travel; this is not at all true. The cruise ship offers everything that is just right for one’s enjoyment.

There are a lot of things and activities waiting for you so do not get stuck in a corner, go out and meet people- at daylight, you could enjoy the games. Moreover, it is also a reliever from stress and anxiety. The traditional way of relaxing near the pool with eyes set on the star-studded sky or flash one’s eyeballs on the beautiful people.

Some offer spa and other beauty as well as teenagers. But there are others too. As the night curtains are dropped, there are numerous bars and parties could help you socialize and mingle with others.

Others are afraid to try experiencing a cruise for he or she might be seasick. Seasickness is normal back in the past. Nowadays ships are so smooth-sailing, so they do not have large tendency to let you have seasickness. The chance to travel is worth the adventure, you do not have to be very cautious about it.

The biggest mistake a person could think is that he or she will not feel comfortable. The reason she tries to evade from cruising is that there are many people who could not drink and those who could. There are people who are like that, but I am like this…is the usual drama. You need not worry about that we could fix it anytime soon.

For younger people, they do not consider joining the older population. They think that it is not good to be in a cruise and travel because people there are all old. This is half of the truth- but let us appreciate the fact that you are there and you are unique. Meeting people along the way is not something to be afraid of bridging the differences.

The reason of others is that they have a bit of knowledge in ships and they think it is disadvantageous means to travel. You are there to unwind not to look at you an engineer who knows all the parts of their function and enumerate them to people you meet.

These are just some of the many misconceptions. These are not that strong for someone who has in his heart what he does. And, sometimes we need to look for other things… When the fact is they are just near our reach. Travel, it is a chance to be savored and not wasted.
